Question Walboro 255 fuel pump???

hey,

Just installed my Walboro 255lph fuel pump today. I noticed at idle a slight whine sound, which i think is the fuel pump. Just woundering if this is normal. It is not loud at all but with my super ears i can hear a faint sound from the fuel pump area.

thanks,

Brett

(not really thread jacking since it goes alone with the theme)

Anyone have their Walbro whine louder after a long trip... 2hrs plus? I think mine is going out. It was 10x louder after a trip back home... the next day it was quite again (a little louder than OE) I've used Walbro pumps since before some here were born and never had one go out. (this is the pumps second car though... originally in the SC GSR) So I don't know what to expect. Never had this happen before. I don't think the pump was vibrating on anything as there is no where for the pump to go in the Evo. Anyone have an idea?

Only noise changes I have heard of are due to fuel level..... you didn't have low fuel perhaps at the end of the trip and then fill up before driving it the next day?

Mine is actually quiet, surprised me how quiet it is compared to the Denso pump I had in my GVR-4.

When I first installed I run the car with the back seat and cover plate off to check for leaks from hoses and I could hear it then. Just putting the cover plate on quieted it WAY down. Then after the back seat was put in I don't hear it at all
