The turbos are based on the new GT Technologies.

The kit is going to include:

Turbo of your choice up to our BR580.
Cast manifold
SS tubular 02 housing
bolts, oil lines, water bypass lines
New engine cooling fan
Lower i/c pipe and couplings

The kit price is still no exact, we are waiting to see what the CNC work costs us. I gaurantee, 100%, that it will NOT be over $2500.

I am shooting for less than $2500 actually, it is going to depend at this point completely on the cost of the CNC work.

Thanks Dave,

Is the BR580 the only choice?

What hardware is required besides the kit itself on the EVO to
get it working?

Is this kit compatible with the stock/aftermarket downpipe or do you have to fabricate a custom one.

Steve

He said up to 580. That would include the 475 and the 500.

with the stage 4 upgrades, what additional upgrades would be necessary for each turbo(475, 500, 580)? and would they all be able to run on 91 octane?

I think all the questions asked have been answered more than once in the last 15 pages

Yes, the turbos can run 91 octane, octane limits the boost you can run.

The stock downpipe will not work, no way you would want to run it on a car with this turbo kit anyway.

Our downpipe will work, any other 3" downpipe with a flat flange will work too.

Other supporting mods are ATLEAST: Full exhaust, injectors, some type of fuel control (Flash, AFC, AEM EMS etc.) fuel pump and a boost controller.

Here is a question for you Dave. I have a full stage 3 and need to purchase upgraded injectors and pump to handle the extra fuel for the turbo upgrade. What do you recommend as far as injector size for the various turbos... BR475, BR500, BR580? And do you carry them?

David, I have a question that has not been asked yet.
My car is stock right now.
How much cash should I bring to your shop to buy (including install) the goodies required for 401 whp?

Thanks,
Mike

PS I will be driving against Porsches very soon at The Glen.
I need more power!

We are in the process of putting the stock manifold and a stock upgraded turbo on the car. Planning on doing it Wednesday of next week, 3-3-04. We are going to dyno the car on this and see what it will do. We are hoping for some good things to come from it.

RIGHT after this I am thinking we are going to swap the cylinder head over and bolt our turbo kit back on it.

As for the turbo kits the casting company ran into some manufacturing problems with it last week. They say we will have just 10 to start with in a few more days. WAIT WAIT WAIT!! SUCKS SUCKS SUCKS!!

Take care,

So david what were. the results with the upgraded stock turbo test,i understand you will be the distributer for them. Will that be a viable alternative to a full turbo kit.

Not to offend anyone, but I think it would be a good idea to lock this thread. It's done for, for good information and Dave will probably make a new post when the turbo kit is available and/or he has new information.

DO NOT LOCK THIS POST. It is far from done. Really good questions today and there is a lot more information to be posted here.

Injector sizing. First off, yes of course we have injectors for the car. The injector size for each turbo you asked about, the 475, 500 and 580 is going to depend on the type of fuel management you have. The 680 cc injectors should be good enough for all three of these...this is tuning with the AFC.
When going to the standalone we would put in atleast an 880 cc injector. The standalones require a larger injector than the stock ECU's do.

To get your EVO to 401 whp like we did in this topic it will cost you $8155. This will take you through all of our Staged upgrades (1-4) minus the AFC. Then you have to add in the AEM EMS and the turbo kit. IF you purchased the entire kit together I am sure some discounts would apply. This does NOT include a clutch kit.

Labor for the complete package, not including a clutch will run you $750. The clutch is $350 to install, the clutch choice is up to you.

Last question was on the stock turbo upgrade we were testing. As much as I hate to say it the testing went terribly. We started out with some failures on the unit. After everything finally came around and it stayed together the turbo sucked (more than just air!haha) The lag was terrible, the compressor surge was also horrible. Not a turbo we would sell to anyone.

There is something nice that came of it. The machining is going to be underway for a new compressor wheel for the turbo. This will be available only from us and this should make for one kick *** new turbo. We are implementing a compressor wheel we know works well, makes about 50 more hp than a 16g wheel and will give lightening fast spool up. This will be all in the completely stock appearing housing. When this turbo is done if it performs as I expect it to this would be the turbo I would run for a daily driver. I hate to see it come in some ways because of the money we have invested in these new turbo kits. There is a market for both and that is a fact.

Thanks for reading,
