Another "What Cams are These?"thread.
Hi,
New EVO owner and new member to the forums.
Have owned Subarus for a few years and just traded in my 2007 WRX for a 2003 EVO.
I'm slowly figuring out everything that is installed on the car and found out that there are aftermarket cams installed with springs and retainers.
The retainers say WORKS on them so I am assuming the springs may be theres also.
Now the cams have a few numbers on them but no company name or anything. Searching came up with a few possibilities but nothing definite.
The intake cam has a U , ED, and ES 4604 also some symbol that cannot be read.
The exhaust cam has a V, ED and ES 4604 with the symbol.
Both cams have red/orange paint around them on the end away from the gears.
Doing a search online came to a few threads mentioning Revolver Cams, HKS 280, BC 272's, etc.
When I found out the retainers are Works, I looked them up and they look really similar to the pics of Works cams so I'm not sure.
You can see all the pictures here: http://s34.photobucket.com/albums/d1...in/EVO%20VIII/
Here are a couple pictures:
Thanks for any input.

Thanks for the reply.
No, not hollow so not stock.
The idle is lopey and does want to stall sometimes.
I've been going through different tune adjustments to keep the idle happy.
Maybe there are more marking under the cam gears but I don't want to go that far quite yet to identify them.

Not sure if it helps narrow down what they are but, @ idle on my boost gauge it reads around -18 inches of mercury.
I know that is right around stock but they definitely aren't hollow and aren't stock.
Thanks.

The paint markings IMO are HKS cams. Back in the day both of my HKS cams were different colors, not sure if they were the size or the intake/exhaust markings. Ill try and dig up a pic
EDIT:
Best I could do, the only thing I have are my Kelford cams

Thanks for the response.
I'm pretty sure one of the other threads I found mentioned HKS and that HKS had said they didn't always have there name stamped/engraved in them and that some of the older ones were like these.
Some of the other parts installed on my car are/were earlier versions of products so I believe they could have all been on the car for years.
Earlier version 1 ETS intake.
Earlier version ETS short route 3" uicp.
Etc....
Thanks.

X2, I just bought some kelford 272's that had no markings near any of the journals but on the very end of the cam was a hand etched number that I looked up to verify what cams they were

My kelford 272s have a -10psi vacuum at idle, my friends cosworth m2's are about -12psi and stock was always at -20. so im guessing these cams may not be too aggressive and hks 272's or BC's are very likely upon basic reasoning?

If I really want to figure out for sure I'll probably take a day and check everything out but I'll wait until I have another reason to have it all apart again.
I may have to end up having the cam gears off to see if there is writing under them.
Thanks for the input though.

Bumping this thread back up to see if any new input.
Not worried too much about it because I have the car running pretty good but for anyone else who might need this same input.
Thanks.
