Catch Can/Breather Setup

So my built 2.0l has excessive crank case pressure and has been causing issues for me. Dipstick blown out on the dyno, then causing oil seepage at the bolts behind crank pulley. Mechanic keeps chasing an oil leak as the engine is finding the next weakest link to push oil out of. Frustrating to say the least.

So I bought an Allstar catch can/breather can from AMS. Installed with just 5/16th rubber hose. This did nothing! So I get on the forums and find what looks like to be the correct setup (Antilag 200) and forward it along to my mechanic. We are coping it verbatim. Thank you!!

Here is the link to the thread where I got the idea.https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...-issues-4.html

Here are the pics I have gotten so far. I think he still needs to add one more line from the Intake Mani to an oil separater, but this is what he sent me so far.

Why do you have pressure in your crank/engine? Because its new and not broke in yet?

I think it is inherent with built 4g63's. The engine has almost 30k miles on it. I don't think it matters whether its a 2.0l or a 2.3l either. Anyone with knowledge on the subject want to comment??

How did you guys remove the metal shavings from the valve cover? I really want to drill and tap some holes on my valve cover but I don't know how to remove the shavings. Please lmk. Thanks.

??? Sorry, I have no idea, it was taken to my engine builder for the drill and tap. My mechanic didn't even want to touch the magnesium. Make sure you review the thread I included in the first post before proceeding.

I did the same on my valve cover but have them run to dual Saikou Michi sealed catch cans into 2 barbs on my intake pipe to pull vacuum from the crankcase.

First remove the cam cover. Drill out the rivets holding the baffles in place. Remove baffles. Drill out and tap cam cover for AN fittings. Clean out all shavings. Drill and tap holes where rivets went. Replace baffles with small cap screws. Reinstall cam cover. Done!

You don't worry about the screws backing out? What kind of loctite did you use?

Jesse, there's a few ways to get rid of the shavings. I got it clean by hand first. I then hosed it off. After getting all of the big particles out of there I put the VC and the baffles through the dishwasher .

I prefer bulkhead fittings, as the Magnesium is a bit soft to tap and run an AN fitting into. I've seen quite a few, including my own, crack.

Baffles I would highly recommend Blue LocTite, as Red is almost too strong for the Magnesium if you ever need to take the baffles out.
