best pistons for 2.4lr

I'm looking to get a 2.4l long rod motor built and I have not seen a lot of people specify what pistons they are using. I want the 156mm rod and if I look at weisco they have to be custom made but the Manley platinum's come in a 10-1 comp for that rod length and bore. Are you guys using off the shelf's or custom pistons

To my knowledge any LR piston is a custom piece because the skirt is shorter and the wrist pin needs to be moved up on the piston. Manley might have one in their catalog. MAP will recommend Wiseco HD 1400s, but they're not an off the shelf piece.

I love my Manley platinum series 2.4LR pistons,Manley had then in stock, didn't have to customize anything,i received them 3 days after placing the order,i bought mine in 9:1 compression for pump gas friendlyness,so far no complaints.

i see you got your block from MAP i am speaking with them now and they are suggesting the standard rod motor because your reducing the side loading with the long rod but also reducing the size of the piston skirt so canceling them out?

Funny they recommend the standard rod now.

This is normal wear after 600 miles on a MAP LR2.4L:

I'm using custom 10.5:1 Mahle pistons on recommendation from the machine shop who built the motor.

interesting?

i think the Wiseco 1400HD would be the best without going completely custom.

I failed to take pictures so at this point it is academic, but we just had the head off a LR2.4 that has 1800 miles of road racing (thats all the car does as its not street legal) and the bores were fine. There is decreased sideloading with a LR vs a short rod, if the skirt were an issue all the 2.3s on the market would look the same.

They dont.

So is it safe to say that the danger with the long rod would be stemmed from the ptw clearances
What is a hood ptw for the weisco HD 1400 (.0045-.005)

I had Spec Ops Motorsports build my 2.4 LR. I have been using it as a street car on pump gas, road trips etc., as well as beating the living **** out of it every weekend I can. It is running great still, and just performed like a champ at the shootout in Max Effort.
