Help choosing a turbo for a DD
Help choosing a turbo for a DD
Hello guys,
Looking to make 400 whp max (cams and supporting mods on 91 octane) and have a close to stock spool for the street. I am looking at either a full ported BBK or ported FP Green. Any help or other recomendations with be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Sam

I am considering a current generation BB Green with a 9.8cm housing. Because my RS has JDM shorty close ratio gearing and even my OS Green didn't quite spool quick enough in 1st through 3rd.
My JB Red configured with a standard 10.5 is too slow spooling for the twisties. As an economy alternative I may just send a 9.8 housing into FP and have it cut for the Red turbine wheel though. This in the meantime until I save up enough mazuma for a BB Green.
So, to the OP, I would vote BB Green, or, BB BBK-B(3B). This will give you a wee bit of headroom over 400 on 91....but that's OK isn't it?
Of course, as Golgo states, the totally stock appearing BBK is hard to beat for CA on 91. It will get you to 400 (but barely) on 91

You really gotta work to hit 400whp on 91.
This is the car I modeled my build after:

IX's are khuuul! A similarly modded VIII wouldn't have done it I guess. The linked build has everything except the head ported. It has healthy cams and the MAF removed. Albeit it is running through a hi-flow cat on 91. That is a really nice stealth build and a great tune on a notably stingy dyno.

I guess that over 400 with the BBK-Full on straight 91 through the MAF sensor would be hard to achieve at least on that Mustang dyno. The switch to SD which eliminates the high end airflow restiction netted 15 WHP alone. So, would 375-385 Mustang WHP be more a realistic limit with the BBK-Full on 91 with a cat and through the MAF?
