Exclamation Everyone Inside!!!!!!!!

This poll is for evos that have completed their break in process. If you are still breaking it in, please do not vote as a little consumption is to be expected.

On a side note, has anyone here had their warranty voided for using conventional oil? If so, please share your story.

Hmm, this one could be slanted in which ever way....

My experience with high revving 4 cylinders, both NA and Turbo sees about 1/4-1/2 quart of synthetic being used every 1000-3000 miles - DEPENDING on how it's driven. Drive past 6K RPM often, do lots of 3rd gear 70MPH downshifts, use 4th gear a lot at 80MPH+, do a lot of twisty driving keeping the revs past 5K and you'll use oil. It gets burned and it gets thrown out the head....normal as far as I know.

Check your oil every two or three days, drive it hard (you're driving hard when you get a little over 90 miles to a half tank =), check it next morning.

I broke my engine like I always do (I do not pussyfoot), my engines always seem to dyno above normal and have excellent compression and leak down after 10's of thousands of miles (street only though) - always on a diet of synthetic.

i edited your post since "everybody inside" is very misleading and does not offer any insight to what the thread is about.

p.s

i am sorry about the spelling but i am working without sleep for the past 2 days

Anyone here actually runs conventional oil (on your evo)???

Mine has mild consumption... probably 1/4 quart for 2k miles...
it was like that during break-in as well....I am easy on the car,
it's my daily commuter...

I do see a lot of oil going to my oil catch can though... so I assume
some of that 1/4 quart goes b/c of blow-by...

That means your rings have fully seated.

I'm curious, did you break in using sythetic? At approximately what mileage did you notice the reduced consumption?

-change at 1000 miles Amsoil 10w30
-change every 2000 since then Amsoil 10w30
