For instance I used the
4g64 block and crank
Wiseco 1400 9:1 pistons
Manley I beam 156mm rods (machining to allow clearance)
ARP Main Studs
ACL race bearings etc.

Just read through some threads and price stuff out. I'm so excited about mine. I will keep u posted as to how mine turns out when I get it back.

I am trying to finish up my 2.4L build as well. All MAP products but its being built here in RI by my guy.

My short block consists of Manley Forged Crank, Howards Racing Rods 150mm std, Wossner 9:1 Pistons, ARP Mains.

My Head was ported by myself and then blending, re-cutting seats and valve job 5 angle. As for the head all new Supertech Dual Valve Springs Ti Retainers, Big Bore Lifters, Ferrea Valve Guides, Power Enterprise Head Gasket,

I picked up a JB Black to go along with it all as well. Just need to pick up some cams most likely S3's soon.

Also have all new CC twin disk, Full Race VF Intercooler, Spark Tech Non-CDI, and some new shoes finally. Rota p45r 18x9.5. Once I get everything in better order Ill be making a thread for myself and get some pictures and dyno sheets up until i get it to the track next season.

You can get 2.4l blocks and cranks for mighty cheap these days. I'd say go for it. People will tell you to go with a long rod version for a bunch of different reasons, but like everything else, it's give and take. I'd just build a 2.4L with the OEM crank and use off the shelf rods and pistons if I had to do it again.

My 2.4 is currently making 415whp 10.2:1 compression with an fp green. The thing makes 350 torque at 2500 rpms on pump gas . Had to stop there due to the clutch was slipping. Im in the process of making the 3g awd so it can hold the power evo trans is alot stronger than the fwd eclipse trans.

How do you measure out what the compression ratio will be? 4g64 oem long block has a compression ratio of 9.5:1 and mating the complete stock 4g64 block with the evo 8 head bumps the compression to 10.5:1.....
ordering 8:1 4g64 pistons to bring it down to 9:1?

The only thing i can think of is that if you buy pistons already meant for the swap they already took into consideration the use of an Evo head therefore giving you the proper ratio when you buy them.

I would definitely do more research on that. I was using 10.5:1 Wiseco HD pistons. Here's the build I had on my 2.4

MAP 2.4L 1400hd Pistons
MAP Rods ACL Bearings with oil squirters
MAP Rev 3 Intake manifold
MAP Stage 5 ported head
FIC 2150cc Injectors
Perrin Fuel Rail
GM 3 inch maf and maf translator
Spark tech coil on plug ignition
ETS 4 inch IC, lower and upper pipe
GSC S3 Cams
GSC beehive valve springs and titanium retainers with chrome moly seats
EXEDY Twin DISC Clutch
FP Green HTA w/ 18psi WGA
Evo 8 Gen2 install kit
Megan o2 Housing
Megan Downpipe
some no name Test pipe
HKS Carbon Ti Exhaust
Denso BPR7ES plugs
ETS UICP, gloss black
Turbosmart Race Port BOV
