drivetrain slop

when letting off the gas in a higher gear below like 2000 rpm and getting the clunk clunk sound mainly around 20mph, is this what drivetrain slop is?, i get this a lot and i dont really know why, i believe the car has energy suspension rear bushings and the t-case was reshimmed from previous owners if that matters, driving style or drivetrain? ACT 6 puck btw i feel like i need to let up the gas slowly to avoid it

Hey I have same slop but I've hade a couple shops drive it and I think that's the way the drivetrain is. It don't sound bad but when you let gas off fast I get that same noise.

yes! its sounds sort of like the driveshaft is being tossed around it happens like when coming up to a traffic light and you lose speed so you get back on the gas to get to the light and then let off and it goes donk..donk..clunk. it wont happen if your going the appropriate speed for the gear, say 4th gear and let off at 5k rpm its will decel normally

Ya sounds like mine. Because I'll drive around in high gear to avoid exhaust noise because cops make it big deal around here. If you got a good shop around there you could have them drive it or ask them. But I think it's normal for these Evos.

Also if you ever had your car on jack stands you can fill the slop when you turn tires back and forth.

yea my car was recently in the shop for a head rebuild it was driven by the shops employees, no one said anything about anything feeling weird. only my decel noise which we both decided to rule out as being a problem bc my clutch/flywheel combo
