Heyah there.
So i'll get to the point.
The service engine is on soon
Whenever I turn my car on it has a very hard time keeping a steady idle and staying on. If I rev it the car can stay alive but its almost always trying to idle out.
When I shift in the car instead of hearing a smooth spooling up and then a release of the presure it gives fluttering or chiffing type sound.
If I try to go hard on the car it will kick roughly and sometimes back fire.
To mean it seems like the turbos going.
Whats everyones thoughts.
Also right now im in virigina near fort lee. I know in NC near fayetteville theres a good shop Spec ops. Should I just go there and start my whole building of the car or is there a reputable place in virginia?

Have you or anyone esle pulled codes yet for the check engine light? That will at least help narrow it down. Also, any changes made to your setup recently? Like have you messed with anything in the last little bit, or did this problem just arise out of a normally running ok engine setup. Need any other information you can provide to help with some kind of diagnosis.
agreed, I was thinking that it was bigger camshafts when you were talking about the idle but when you said something about backfire I started to think injector scalings. did you upgrade cams or injectors?
Ya I'm prettt sure its not your turbo, does it smoke? I'd diagnose your check engine light then go from there. Mine use to cut out and idle out but it was because I had a bad 02 sensor. I'd check that first. Im pretty sure its your o2 sensor.

Thanks guys. Im limited on what I can do cause I dont wanna be driving the car around. Its a hassle getting it on and off base running like that. I'll try to get the codes pulled.
The car was running normal. I did some long distance driving.
Played around with it on some sprited driving that night. I think the highest I took up to was around 110mph.
If its a o2 sensor is it just as easy as changing them on a gst eclipse? Aka not hard but in a very stupid location.
Im thinking of taking it to forced performance and getting a decent tune as the car was running rich.
Thanks for the replies and I will try to find a little place around here to get the codes pulled. Knowing me its probably a bigger issue than a small. :P
At least I in no way need the car working its just my weekend toy car.

Hey you guys where right on the money. The cars getting pretty gosh darn bogged out but its an o2 sensor. The guy said its the one right before the cat? How many o2 sensors do our cars have?
Anyways the part was $300 at the store which I find a smidge high.
I see some evo 8 o2 sensors for only $35. Do evo 8 ones work. If not anyone know where to get a evo 9 one for a reasonable price?

Just got one from Oxygensensors.com or something like that. It was like 70 bucks. Works good and super fast shipping. I don't know what kind of exhaust you have but there is one o2 sensor pre-cat, or in the o2 housing right after your turbo. And the other one is easier to get to... its after the cat or test pipe around the middle of the car. You need a 22mm end wrench for either. You will most likely need a torch, some pb breaker, ect. And if its the sensor in the o2 housing you will need to take some stuff apart. Look it up on the DIY section. PM me with questions ive done both. Good luck.
Everything sounded good until you said a torch..... I am in no way capible of welding ><
They said its the pre cat o2 sensor but it stands to reason that replacing them both would make sense right? Or is the fix it as it breaks type of deal?

He was only suggesting a torch in case the sensor is stuck in the exhaust. The heat from the torch will generally help free up and loosen a stuck sensor. You may not need it at all. A good box end on a 22mm wrench or good o2 sensor socket will usually get it loose no problem at all. Good luck.
So finally got some leave time and replaced the sensor. The car seems barely better.
The car is running very very rich.
What im getting is a lot of kick backs now. Like the car will backfire and kick very harshly.
The biggest issue of all is the car will simply idle out. You will accelarate and once its dropping back down when you're holding the clutch it will drop all the way down to 0 rpms and the car just turns off.
So the cars a pain in the *** to drive.
So whats the next thing I need to look into.
Could it be the fuel injectors?
