Can't you use an Evo8 head?...
... seems silly to delete something that is already applied previously.

U will need an Evo 8 head and valve cover unless u make a block off plate for where the old mivec sensor was, Its not possible to use an evo 8 intake cam in an evo 9 head. Also u will need to block the oil feed for the mivec on the back of the block.

Evo8 head if you won't want to work on blocking off oil passage.

Yes, you have to remove the mivec cam sensor. I used a 95-96 ecliose cam angle sensor black plug to seal the hole. I ran a oil feed line to the mivec oil port on the head and use a regular cam gear instead of the mivec gear. Reason I decided to convert mines is I got tired of having timing problems with my 2.4l setup so I swap out for adjustable cam gears

yes 8 cams can be used in 9 head. just have to plug some holes. 9 head is slightly superior even wiithout mivec. it has revised cooling passages, and the long reach plugs for better plug cooling.
