What is the problem?

Hi,
im helping a friend to seek for advise as his Evo 9 cylinder 1 seems no pulse and the exhaust sounded like a Scoobie.
Here is what my friend have done :
1) Injectors clean
2) Checked the wires and there's power to the injectors sockets
3) Checked the Ecu harness and no fault found
4) Spark ok
5) Swap a injector ballast but still the same (the ballast is taken from a running Evo)
6) Swap cylinder 1 injector with cylinder 2 injector but still the same
7) During engine on took out injector sockets from 1~4. Only cylinder 1 injector no effect.
What might be the problem? Will a low cylinder compression have such effect?
Thanks

Low compression due to damaged valve or piston.

A worn loose valve guide can cause this.

Edit: Looking at what I wrote, while true, it doesn't make much sense. A loose valve guide can allow the valve to wobble, not always sealing on it's seat. Eventually the valve will burn.

Possible bad ground on number one. Do you have a noid light to see if you are getting any pulse at all? Is number one plug wet at all after running for awhile? Does the cylinder look washed? Cylinder leak down test will tell you for sure if you have a more major issue. Good luck.

You can take a long screwdriver and put it against the injector body and put your ear up to it, and you will hear it clicking. If no click, then potential wiring or bad ecu output transistor.

However, more likely case is something wrong internally. Do a compression/leakdown check and get back to us.

Well that sucks. Time to tear her down and rebuild. Stroker time!!!!! At least you got to the bottom of it fairly quickly and didn't waste alot of time or money on trying to fix something that should get an overhaul to be fixed.
