Exedy Twin City Takeoffs

Whats up everyone
Ive been wondering about getting off exedy twin smoothly,
I have to slip it at 3000 rpms to get a smooth start in the city without any jerking or stutter, found out it was the SD tune
How are you guys getting off smoothly in normal driving?

Instead of slipping, try tapping the gas at first (once or twice) and then clutch/gas combo it so you don't have to slip it as much as if you were to just clutch/gas combo it without. Its some getting use to but it will help preserve your clutch from excessive, daily driving, stop and go, wear.

+1 ^... I had an exedy twin in both my evo's and the best thing you can do is to give it a few pumps on the gas then ease the clutch while giving gas (50/50)

It's on/off switch initially. But it will smooth out after a while.

check your rear motor mount and the tranny bolts going into the block. if they are loose it can cause smooth engagement issues. good luck!

that will wear clutch out real fast.
I can let clutch pedal out from idle on my carbonetic twin without touching gas pedal. tricky but it does it smoothly. its very easy to take off revving to just 1300-1400 rpm.

My HD twin is so smooth now that I could slip it from a stop, roll the car into 1st gear and it will not kill the engine.
And yeah, starting from 3K RPM will wear the out fast!

^Ditto. You need to learn to modulate the clutch.

It's easy to roll out without even using the gas as smooth as butter on the exedy twin. 3000rpm, wayyyyyy too much.

The biggest mistake I see people make when letting the clutch out, regardless of how smoothly its done, is not adding in throttle while slipping out the clutch. Everyone Ive watched drive stick tends to rev up and sort of try to hold the throttle while slipping out the clutch so the car goes like EHHEehhhh. Theres no linearity to that.

Dont rev up to 3k. Basically try to think of it like an automatic car. If youre stopped and you want to pull away from a stop, you press the accelerator down to get moving, you dont just tap and hold it. The same thing should be done in a stick car, you press the accelerator down while simultaneously letting the clutch pedal out. The blip rev and let the clutch out method is bad too because it makes you seem like you cant drive and the car will buck.

would that way be decent in normal driving or will it be really slow enough to **** off people in the back lol

so basically i should let out the clutch to engagement first then add minimal gas and it ll be smooth?

The twin has a stiff pedal and a very short engagement point. Bring the R's to 1300-1500 then bring the clutch to the point where it starts to get you rolling. Hold it in the same spot as you start to lurch forward. You should know when you are moving fast enough to let it all the way out.

That's how I work it at least. Engages like stock if driven properly.
