Need some help Ticking while Reving

Ok guys, I recently just did a cam install Cosworth M2 11mm lift (intake and exhaust). I have a 06 evo 9.

I followed the steps of " ZIP TIE THE CAM GEAR"

when I was finished the car idles fine. BUT when I start reving the ticking sounds like its coming from the intake cam.

I talked to a few friends and they said "lifters" which after the research ive been doing its pretty common. I havent pulled the valve cover yet I was going to do it when the lifters got here.

So I over nighted TOP LINE Lifters from STM.

I was need some input on anything else it could be.

Any info is greatly appriciated

you probably didn't need to order new lifters, just bleed the ones you have

Also, i'm assuming you already changed your oil after installing the new cams?

well I already got them on the way.

fml I honestly forgot to change my oil. I didnt think I would need too. It only has about 500 "easy" miles on the oil thats in it now.

lifters will be here tomorrow and ill change oil too.

I just tired the rev to 3k 10 sec and idle for 30 sec. Still nothing..

You replaced your cams and then didn't change the oil?

just bleed them and drive the car. the lifters aren't used to the more aggressive cams. it took a few good miles for my lifters to stop ticking so loud.

got this same issue going on right now.. whats a "few good miles" ? i went around the block and nothing, after i removed and bled all the lifters and just took down the pan, all rod bearings are fine. and no signs of wrist pin gouging the walls. so guess its the damn lifters... tick only happen after 2k rpm and up and gets faster with the rpms.. nothing at idle..

honestly I drove it to work on the interstate and it was gone. so somewhere around 7-10 miles. the lifters have to refill with the proper amount of oil because of the new cams. if you bled them right, the ticking will go away.

Evo lifters kinda suck. Ive had to bleed mine and I have stock cams. And even after I bled them the ticking came back after a few months. Kinda got used to it.

update (in case anyone ever has this issue)

turns out after removing the head, pistons were just slightly tapping the head, block was decked and pistons stuck out a **** hair out and customer installed a 4G64 gasket which works great but is for NA motor so is 2 layer and possibly .20 thickness instead of the .51 metal plate the factory gasket is.

cosworth .51 thickness headgasket solved the problem.
