How important is bleeding lifters when cam installing

Im doing a cosworth cam install on my IX. I have been told by people that you must bleed the lifters before putting the cams in and some have not done it at all. How important is it to bleed them. our cars already tick anyways from the factory so some tick will not bother me.

Dont know how important is but 1st time we done mine we didnt bleed them and they ticked them a$$ of . So we replaced the lifters and bleed them and it was much better (like stock) . We have done 2-3 set after mine and bleed all of them and they have not made any MORE noise than when the cars came in .
It take 5-10mins and a paper clip .....

I always bleed them, it really doesn't take that long. Just the extra comfort is worth doing it, that way you know it will be correct.

I have only bled lifters on pushrod motors. do you need to use a feeler gauge to set the rockers when you put them back on or just tighten them down.

They are hydraulic lifters, you just throw them in after you bleed them and wait for them to pump themselves up. No adjustment needed.

The lifters should be easy to do, just follow the factory service manual....I'm going to do it myself soon.....luckily for me I've never had any ticking problems

JAM just released there new 3MM Lifters, which are designed to eliminate "Lifter Tick". The price is not bad, if your putting in new Cams, might be worth replacing your lifters at the same time.

This is ezr , no filler gauge needed

Pull them out and bleed them one by one , then reinstall the rockers , then replace cams and so on ........
after its all back together run the car @2000rpms for 30 sec then let it idle for 30 sec , keep doing this untill he lifters quiet down . It might take 5-6 cycles for this to happin .

It is so easy to do, why not do it??? All you do is pull the lifter out and put a small allen key down into it till you feel it fall into place. Then push and the oil squirts out then reinstall. It was the easiest part of the cam install.
