Engine Blew

Hi,
I recently build and engine with a small workshop in Singapore called 833 Motorsports

I am using a 4g63 head and a 4g64 bottom.

88mm crank
162mm rods
87mm Manley pistons - the mechanic did not know how to fit the Manley rings on it and used my older CP rings for the Manley.
1.5mm head gasket power enterprise .

My engine was runned in for 1000miles before I sent it to the tuner,

I had a rpm lock for running in the engine at 4k.

When I sent for tuning, and on the second run with my tuner , the car was unable to start after that.

The tuner who is my friend, opened the head and found the valves bend.

Apparently the car has lost it's compression as the valves had hit something .I went to another mechanic now to open the engine and I have to rebuilt another engine.

I am now trying to see what cause the engine to seize! Was it the tuning or was it the engine being build wrongly and without the proper knowledge .

Pleas share your inputs as I really need your advice .

Sounds like issues all around... especially using older rings because he didn't know how to fit the new rings WTF?

If thats the case, I can only assume he had no idea about how to time a build with a 4G64 block...

If the valves bent its a timing issue... Either he didn't set your timing right on your adj. cam gears, the adjustment bolts on the cam gears came loose, timing belt tensioner failed, or your timing belt broke. The rings have nothing to do with this but are a huge sign this guy didn't know what he was doing.

I would definitely not take it back to the same shop. Your asking for another disaster. Contact Spec_Ops (the first reply) he can build an engine for you, and you will know for damn sure it will be the right way!!

Wow WTF? He did not know how to install the rings and used old rings? That also mean he did not check any of his bearing clearances either.

Wipe your hands clean of that shop.

Recycling piston rings is almost as bad as recycling condoms.

There is your problem. On the path to learning to how to do things right every time, you make mistakes. Do you want to be paying for their learning or do you want to pay extra to have someone with experience do it (pay extra probably meaning getting an engine built from the US)?
