PL14459 seems also hard to come by at online stores, PBL14461 seems longer (less ground clearance),
Since 2005 or so, has been using Wix filters in earlier years, and Hyundai TUIX oil filters so far (high performance version of Hyundai OEM but also discontinued.....),
and need to stock up some good quality oil filters.
Any recommended source for Purolator filters?

Glad this thread is still going. I'm sure it's WAY out of date now though. Probably a lot of those filters have changed or have been discontinued a this point. Maybe someone else can pick-up the mantle and start a new thread!
There is some fantastic info in this thread.
One of the key points i've taken away from all of this, is the Evo platform needs a bigger filter.
If the bypass valve in the filter is opening at ~5000rpm, then you have unfiltered oil going into the engine.
So why not use a filter that's double or triple in size like the Wix 51515XP?

It looks like a case of the more filter surface area you have for a given media, then the less pressure drop. This means you're less likely to open the bypass valve unless it's been blocked/clogged by particles.
The packaging of the oil filter housing on the Evo restricts big filters - so why isn't oil filter relocation kits more common on Evo's?
I know what i'll be doing next!

Looks like a few of these filter companies have recently changed hands and therefore changed quality. Wix was bought by another umbrella corporation. Purolator has changed their filter design. Fram now has their "ultra" line or whatever.
Some more oil filter info that I did a while back.
