The numbers are all so small, I wouldn't worry about it. Yes, silicon doubled, but its still low. You really need to look for an upwards trend over 2-3 UOA's before I would worry about an issue.
This is why I don't do UOA's, I don't need yet another thing to over-analyze on my car. I'm bad enough with the random noises and rattles, and finagling with the tune...lol

I should expect the numbers be higher (they are, just low mileage OCIs so it doesn't look like it) given the harder use I assume compared to the average street-pull Evo owner.
golgo13 - do you have any UOAs to compare? Curious how mine turned out compared to others.

that PU is as light as some 5w20's I've seen lol - good oil, but I don't think it's even made anymore anyway
I've got my eye on an oil I really want to try... just waiting to hear back about it. I don't think the weight matters as much as the additives and quality of the oil itself anyway. Amsoil oils tend to run a little on the thicker side, for the most part

Depends on your engine's clearances. From what I understand, once you find the weight oil your engine needs, you can run lighter (to a point) with the right additives or heavier with less.
Since I'm not concerned with mpg, I'll go heavier (up to a point).
My bearing clearances tell me I need 40 or 50 wt

Aaron at English told me to run 20w50 in my car. He actually said he runs 20w50 in anything with a turbo. Even with the stock short block. Once I run out of the 10w30 I have, I'll be switching to 20w50. I actually want to try the new Amsoil signature series 5w50. I ffeel ike the 20w is too think if the car sits outside on a 35* night..

I do the occasional track day and more often autocross, twisty road spirited driving on weekends. I also occasionally take it to work. Fairly mixed use. For track days I change the oil after regardless of mileage. I'll change it before if the oil has more the 1k miles on it. If no track days, just autocross and "street" driving, I change it every 3k, or 6 months, which ever is sooner.
I could do UOA, I don't know if I want to though. Per my previous post, it'll just give me something else to over-analyze...lol

I really do drive the car pretty hard in the summer. The oil gets super hot.
Which brand are you considering, if not Amsoil?

There are several that make a 5w50. Amsoil, JGR (now DRIVEN), Redline.

i haven't used Mobil 1 in a long time, but assuming 50w isn't all that great (i'm comparing prices)?

The SSO 5w30 is what my dad runs in his '13 ZL1 at 5,000 mile intervals. No UOA's, but it has 25k miles with no issues so far (as it should lol).
Yea, Vegas we can see night lows in the 30's, so if the car sits out overnight (not in the garage) at my GF's place or while I'm out doing something or whatever, I would be concerned about getting a super thick oil circulating quickly..
I would still stay away from Mobil1.

SSO packs a good bit more moly than ZROD does, which it what I've been using as a constant for my oil tests. Once I'm done, will be giving some high moly oils a try, expecting good things. The Mini tests with oil with moly always turn out quite well
