FP Green or FP Red?
I'm looking for a daily driver/vacation 450 hp, and a turbo with a nice idle spool sound "forgive my ricerness"
Sorry! Not to hijack... but, all in the same vein... I am planning on going 2.3L built block and head on 93oct and was debating between a BB FP Green or BB FP Red... after reading this thread, I still have no idea.
I hardly ever hit the track, just strictly street-douchery for me, so the car needs to pull hard and spool fast (mainly 6500rpm and below).
Does the fact that I am talking about doing a 2.3L with a built head change anyone's suggestions. Would that BB FP Red be able to maintain a "stock-like" spool on a 2.3L or is that unrealistic?
Just curious what people's thoughts are...
PS - assume all supporting mods are already on the car (from ported intake manifold and 65mm throttle body to 1100cc injectors, etc etc)

On pump gas those bigger turbos aren't in their efficiency range, so you're trading off 1000rpms of powerband for 25 more hp on a Green vs an EF4. Not worth it to me. The Red is the same thing. It won't shine until it's on E85 and over 30#s, when the Green at 28#s is right in it's happy place and should net you 460-475whp on 93, when the same setup with a Red on 93 I bet would only make 450.
Hope that helps.

IMO a Green will make more power on pump gas than a Red if you have a decent setup (for the reason below). It would make for the ultimate street car.

well said, thats why whenever I decided to upgrade my stock 9 turbo I'll be going with the bb green. I want to be ablt to enjoy daily driving while not having to switch to e-85 to make good power and not have to be in the 30+psi range on the stock block.
