how to properly destroy your motor

Well i guess i pushed my built 2.2 lr a little to hard.it had an eagle crank and rods with je pistons. It looks like it spun a rod bearing causing oil pressure to drop then the rod let go bending the ams race balance shaft delete rod and locking up the oil pump. There is two holes in the block one in the front and one in the back.It blew at 170mph and 43psi of boost in 5th gear.

Geebus. That engine is absolutely destroyed. Hopefully you were able to shut it down safely. Losing a motor that violently at that speed would be a bit of a shock.

I shake my head when I see this. knock sensors dont save engines. your ears and right foot need to do that job. this type of damages takes minutes to happen. all the while your engine is down on power and screaming at you to lift the throttle.

My buddies built A4 windowed the block doing 35 mph. Other than some "light" signs that something was beginning to go wrong maybe a minute before it went, there was nothing noticeably wrong with the engine before that, ie noises, no power etc.

I can't imagine too many people having the focus to be able to safely drive one of these cars 170+ and notice that the engine has developed some rod knock or something like that lol.

+1 for JB Weld

The oil light flickered and before i could even lift my foot it was all over.It was not violent or anything.it just rolled to a stop and that was all.

If I may offer a sound suggestion ...

For that type of usage, I wouldn't settle for anything sourced from cheap Chinese metallurgy. The degree of loading that the rotating assembly will endure under those conditions makes a strong case for top-tier hardware. There are certain instances whereby keeping things on the cheap only costs more later if not sooner, and this is one such instance.
