Evo 6 engine in Evo 8?
Have a local guy who has a complete setup from a JDM Evo 6.5.... engine, transmission, turbo, ect. 61,xxx on parts. COMPLETE. And he's giving me a good deal on it. My current motor is around 130k, not showing any signs of going anytime soon... but having a complete setup is my garage waiting for DDAY wouldn't hurt my feelings any. ESPECIALLY at such a good buy. I know, I know... save the "build it!! MOAR POWER!! blah blah...." I've come to the conclusion that at my power level (425/400) and the way I drive... that stock motor and tranny are all I need and I don't want the hassle of a built motor.
So, my question is will the engine and transmission from a 6.5 bolt right in to my Evo 8 or will it take any modifications? Also will all my parts like cams and internals also swap right in? Lastly, will the ecu and wiring from my 8 work with the 6.5 motor? Thanks

The engine should fit, but I don't think the transmission would. You could install the engine with the 8 tranny. The 6 turbo is almost identical to the 8's, it would be a nice bonus if the the turbo is the 6.5 RS version (HRA), it's such a fast spooler, check the turbo's number it would end with '560'

Yes, the motor should bolt right in, no downside that I can think of, providing the engine is in a good shape. 15gk2 is the GSR turbo which has a 65mm compressor, the RS turbo is 16g6 with larger 68mm comp, but still both are great in spooling due to the titanium wheels. Is your 8 tranny 6 or 5 speed? If your tranny needs rebuilding, the 6 & 8 share many internals such as sync rings & sleeves, so you could use those for the rebuild.
