Late boast / Turbo Lag

Hello,

I am trying to reduce my turbo lag. I have been looking and asking around getting a bunch of different opinions. I don't reach full boost until 6 grand or so. I am going to be re-tuning soon so any parts I want to get I need to get now.

Here is what I have:

GT3076R Turbo, HKS 272 Cams, Ported exhaust manifold, perrin down pipe 3" stainless exhaust, intake, buscher fmic, piping, 780cc injectors, adjustable rear sway bar, meth injection (currently unhooked) N20 Intercooler sprayer.

Please Help am I noob with basic understanding.

If you are not getting full boost until 6K RPM on that turbo you have a massive boost leak. Or you need to get a more competent tuner.

I know my blowoff valve was leaking but that can't be the root cause. Thanks fellers.

GT3076 should reach full boost around 4 grand :] so, check for leaks. Other than that a storkered 2.3 engine would really help with such size turbo.

Is there any supporting mods I could do to help when I fix the boost leak?

You mean after you fix the leak?! You could have your tuner enable NLTS in the ecu, (shifting while in full throttle), minimal lag in between gears.

I have a few questions if you don't mind: How do you know that the BOV is leaking? What WG is on there? What back housing is the turbo fitted with?

Let's take your word for it that the BOV is lifting. Can you give us an idea at what PSI it starts lifting exactly? For instance is it already leaking at idle? What BOV is on there anyway?

Finally, just a couple more questions: Does it have a cat, or a test pipe? Did you mention how boost is being controlled?

I haven't had it long. I am going to drive out and look at it. The shop I took it to said the BOV was leaking and said you could hear it leaking without driving it. I told them to tighten it up and they did.

These are all good questions that I need to figure out. The boost is manually controlled but it has an electronically controlled system in place but not hooked up. It will reach 24 pounds but it just seems slow to me.

I pin pointed a leak in the BOV. I installed a new PERRIN BOV...among a couple other things (wires, plugs) when I stepped on the gas for the first time it was like the clouds opened up with a sun ray shining down on me with trumpets playing in the background.

Thanks everyone.
