ACD pump not turning on

Hey guys, I noticed today that when I changed my ACD to Gravel that I didn't hear it kick on. So I turned the car off and put the key all the way on and tried to cycle through the settings to see if I could hear it and I can't. The lights cycle like they should but I don't hear the pump turn on. Could this be a software issue (evo flash) or is it something else. I remember hearing it before when I first got it but now I don't and I have no idea how long it's been this way. Any help would be appreciated since I have no idea where to start.

That the pump isn't turning on (in the situations you listed) is actually a good sign. The bulb should hold pressure for quite a while when no pressure is being "used" and it doesn't release it when you turn off the engine. Try it again tomorrow morning.

In case that isn't clear or you don't know how the system works, the pump only turns on when the pressure in the bulb drops below a certain point.

So I shouldn't hear the pump kick on when I cycle through the settings while sitting still. I tried to turn the key and hit the gas and I still didn't hear it kick on. Is that normal?

The pump only cycles/turns on when:

1. Pressure in bulb is below a certain point.

2. You manually try to force it by holding down the gas pedal, turn the key to on position and hold it for 3-5 seconds. But even with this method, if the pressure in the system has reached the required amount, it may not activate.

The reason when you turn the key to on position from not driving the car for a while and the pump activates on its own is because the pressure slowly drops over time.

Bingo, the bulb aka the accumulator stores the pressure, pump supplies pressure as needed.
If the system didn't work, no doubt, it would throw a fault code.
