trimmed rod bearings??

Hey guys gotta question. So im getting a 2.4 shortblock built with wiseco 1400's, map ultimate rods, and king xp bearings. So my machine shop called me today and said the bearings i have dont fit good on my forged manley crank, so they trimmed them. Is this normal?? Im kinda sketched as nate sent me everything and was sposed to be all good lmk thanks

It happens, nothing wrong with trimmed bearings if done correctly.

Ya so looking at my map invoice. They said part # for my rod bearings is CR448xp. And when i look they say race bearings for larger diameter cranks. Something isnt right. I think nate sent me wrong ones!

The "race" bearings give more oil clearance. What they trimmed was the width to clear the chamfer on the crank. Aftermarket cranks have a large radius for strength and the stock crank is undercut with no radius. As long as the oil clearance is what they are aiming for (.002" +/- .0002" or so) everything is correct.

Well i found out exactly why this happened! Wish map woulda said something when they sold me this kit. Im using there ultimate duty rods and on the bottom of the page for em on maps site it sais those rods and bearing can only be used for stock crank! Wtf why would they sell em in a kit then???!?? Is it gonna up my chances of spinning a bearing with less suface area??

The clearances are only as good as the person who sets them....

The map rods use a wider bearing, yours got machined down to standard 7 bolt dsm/evo width. They are plenty wide, actually wider than 90% of all engines out there.

you should make a post on evom and tell everyone what happened. make sure you tell everyone that they sent the wrong parts rather than call the place you ordered the parts from.
