A few months ago, I decied it was time to do some mods to the car, and when I started pulling off the radiator I found it all bowed out. The car never leaked any coolant, the overflow always looked good. Compression was ~140psi across. I decided to do head ARP 625+ head studs, so I also swaped out the gasket, now the old gasket had no signs of leaking anywhere, however pistons 1 and 4 looked cleaner than pistons 2 and 3. Out side of that the intake and exhaust ports all looked the same. Car has been on e85 for almost the whole time I have owned it.

Anyhow just looking for ideas as to why this happend. Want to make sure that I resolve the issue before running the car again.

I also checked the head and block surface, and they were both within spec. No warpage. Always had a radiator fan on the car.

When I replaced the radiator I also replaced the Thermostat, and associated gaskets.

Wow this is the first time seeing a rad like this. Damn

Nope. But I do beat the **** out of my car. My timing number are on point with where they should be on E85, nothing crazy. But running 32psi on the stock headstuds I am sure pushed them to there limits.

Cool thanks for the pics. I will see if the new headgasket and arp 625+'s can keep everything in check. If not I guess it will be time to build the motor.

More expensive nicer radiator won't protect you from a blown headgasket lol.

I think your more prone to head lifting with stock turbo at that pressure with stock head studs. Anyway your small improvements should take care of future issues.

my an fittings are -16 to get to stock size they would have to be -22 or something crazy most people use -12 my car has never ran hot i am also using a 13 inch spal fan so that helps it moves a ton of air.

a new rad would not fix the issue no matter how quality the core is the issue is the cylinder pressure going where its not suppose to.
