ported stock exh manifold or 1.5" ETS Long runner?

im trying to make a 93 oct beast since there is no E85 near me. i am currently on the stock long block but will be upgrading to a 2.4 LR in the future. I have a JB FP Black waiting to be put on, but i wanted to upgrade the exhaust manifold while i have everything off.

I dont care about sacrificing low end power for some high rpm power, i just want as much power as possible on pump gas. some people say that they arent worth it and that the guys at AWDMotorsports made over 700whp on a ported stocker.

what kind of power do you think a long runner would be worth over a ported stocker on a pump gas?

any help would be greatly appreciated.

i personally feel that the information in that thread is biased and i have not seen those results repeated.

im leaning towards the ported stocker because of price and lack of results from the long runner manifolds. i saw a thread in the evo x dyno section showing 30whp gains from a long runner, but that is a different motor and setup.

thanks for your help

i have a ported stocker on my car and my buddy has an ets and he only made a little more power when we had same mods. but a tubular manifold does look awesome

the optimized flow of a tubular manifold should produce more power, but i never saw it in the three different tubular manifolds i tried. i think the issue is that with evos, people run the stock frame turbos at ridiculously high pressure ratios where the smallish hotside is choking flow. my setup with a bbk full maxed on e85 is a perfect example. perhaps someone running a black at 25 psi or less on pump might see a benefit.

It's very hard to benefit from a free flowing exhaust manifold when the turbine housing is undersized.

what kind of power do you think is possible over a stock un ported manifold. i assume ill be around 27psi on pump on a ported fp black?

Depends how "ported" the manifold is...on a simple stock frame turbo you wont see the full potential of a tubular manifold, however you will see gain in horse power and spool up...you will feel the difference for sure. Deciding this also depends on what you're going to do with the car.. Are you looking to road race where anything but a stock manifold will cost you points? Maybe just street use? Or maybe full blown rally racing where you need a anti-lag setup?! lol...a simple "gasket match" port job can be done at home quite easily and will flow a little better, a completely honed manifold (like the one from MAP) is about the same as a tubular and will make a decent amount of power with a larger "stock style" turbo (like an FP Red/Black) My car made just about 600 with a MAP manifold and a ported FP Red (with other supporting mods and e85) I actually have that very MAP manifold sitting on the self in my garage if you're interested...its not doing me any good.

In the process of getting a ported/coated stock manifold right now for my EF3 setup.
