Need help! First startup rebuild, won't catch and start..

Hey there guys!
So I finally finished with my rebuild, looked everything over meticulously and went to start it up and it cranked fine, fuel pump came on, spark went but would not catch and run. I'm bad at explaining so bear with me.. so it wants to start but right at the point where the engine should catch after the starter kicking on for a couple seconds, it just stops. I can't for the life of me figure it out. Is it a bad crank sensor? Cam angle sensor? Mechanical or electrical?? Too many questions... And also, the ecu is set for a 2.0, and my rebuilt engine us a 2.4, I was planning on getting It tuned asap, could it be the ecu? And one more thing, I pulled my old alarm system prior to it all, is it possible I may have disconnected something crucial in this process?

Any help you guys could give would help a lot, I'm stuck!

And when I flutter the gas pedal it wants to turn over but just stops. There are also multiple clicks coming from the engine bay when I turn the key just before the turn to start it.

Any anti theft lights coming on? Some times alarms cause a no start so i would check that.

everything timed correctly? could be a bad crank or cam sensor.

yuupp yuuupp, this, check it ... then re check it.... then re re check it again.... then re time it, and check it Fuel, spark, compression: no start = 98% timing 1.9% electrical mishap 0.1% tuning (my experience)

These were the timing marks prior to dropping it in and hooking everyrhing else up. I have an elim kit for my balance shaft so these were all I had to line up correct? I did notice that I have a vacuum line loose, the one that comes from the underside of the air intake. Does that connect to the front .cv valve on the valve cover? Nothing is there atm and I want to get confirmation of what goes there before I try it again. I will look for the anti theft light, does it actually say anti theft or something else? Thanks for the responses guys

Could it also be that before I decided to do this I sent in my ecu to big al to have reflashed?? I heard absolute terrible things about him AFTER I sent the unit to him.

^^You should have provided that info on first post!

Have you any local friends with similar Evo that you could borrow an ECU from?

Nobody I know personally. Jay from boosted tuning on here has his shop in town, he is going to do my tune. Maybe I can ask him to make a house call since I'm so close..

Are you suspecting he's on the DSM keyhole (90* out?).

No, if you are running a 2.4L Block you need adjustable gears to get it timed correctly due to the bigger deck of the 2.4L

And unless he changed injectors, and cams it should at least start up, idle like crap and run like a bag of sh*t until he gets a base tune.

I have Brian crower adj gears. It supposedly came set for my EVO, but only one of them was, I had to flip the plate on the other for it to match. Here is a pic of the instructions and how I have mine. And I'm on stock injectors, should I get bigger? Shouldn't it still start at least?
