Evo 9 front axle (CV axle)

Hello EvoM!
I need to change my evo 9 front axle (CV axle) for both left and right side.
I did some research on them, and I dont know which one I should get...
DiscountAutoParts.com sells them about $80 each, while OEM is about $500 each
Should I just get used one?

Thank you!

Some people on here have reported good luck with Advance auto axles, others seem to hate the idea.

I cannot stress this enough. Buy and OEM axle, I bought advance auto parts axle once.... The axle is physically too short. It will hyper extend the boots cause them to rip in a few hundred miles. Not only that but since they're too short the axle does NOT seat the seal on the transfer case/transmission. Causing both of them to leak. I was quick enough to realize this before my transfer case bit the dust due to lack of gear oil. Just buy OEM and don't look back.

EDIT: DSS axles I would assume were made with a lot more R&D compared to Advanced Auto Part's. If you do go that route do yourself the favor and compare it to the OEM axle and make sure they're the same length.

Hey OP, you made up your mind on which direction you're heading with this replacement? OEM or auto parts store or online?

thanks!

All local autoparts stores will most likely sell you lancer axles (too short and the axle diameter is thinner, also leaks due to axles sealing incorrectly). Ive tried all of them, with no success.. Rockauto.com sells good remanufactured OE units (ie new boots and grease). I've used them many times with success.

I'll post some pics in a bit of a "right" and a "wrong" axle for you
