Trans/Clutch Issue? Help!
Trans/Clutch Issue? Help!
I was driving my '03 on the highway the other day and went to shift and at first it wouldn't go into gear and made a grinding noise. So I kept it in neutral and pulled over to the side of the highway. Shut it off. Turned it back on and it idles and runs fine. At first it wouldn't go back into gear then for whatever reason it started acting normal where you can get the car into gear with the clutch pedal depressed. It just acts like the trans isn't engaging as the car won't go forward (or back). We're trying to decide if it is a transmission issue or maybe the clutch? The throwout bearing was starting to make a good amount of noise before this happened.
The car has a stock trans and clutch.
Has anyone experienced anything like this or know what to look for? We appreciate any help or insight!

Not sure if anyone is interested but I ended up pulling this apart and the clutch disk had separated from its mounting tabs so it was just rattling around in there. Brand new clutch put in and the thing runs like a dream!
