Theirs one guy on here that dropped them in a buschur head. I wonder how his car is doing... it was just too darn close for my taste. Moral of this thread is always check it!

Yes, I meant the spring seats or as Dave refers to them as locators. I spoke to him when I was going to swap the valves out and he made sure I knew to have OEM spring seats. I don't do this stuff often so I appreciate his assistance otherwise I wouldn't have figured that out until I had a spring off.
I just posted this info cause I didn't want anyone else to possibly do the same thing.

Finally got the engine back in and running. The gsc 5041 spring set worked like a charm. I also installed the gsc seals and had plenty of clearance.

After degreeing the cams in it ended up 3 degrees retarded on the intake and 5 degrees retarded on the exhaust. FYI these cams pull 1 less inch of vac than my buschur cams but seem to idle smoother than the bf cams. Weird.....

I hope to get a good back to back test of my can swap in the next few weeks.

I thought GSCs had tight machining tolerances and were typically within 1*?

Reguiring 5* seems like that cam was out of spec. Or maybe you used a different method to determine lobe centerline then they intended?

No, 3 intake and 5 exhaust. My block and head has been milled so that's why they were a few degrees retarded. That's normal. The cams were only 2 degrees off of each other, give or take 1 degree of course.

So if I had a bone stock motor I would think these cams would go in straight up just as gsc says. Maybe 1-2 degrees off which I consider normal.

Milling the head 0.010" only accounts for like 0.2* of cam retard. It is hardly anything.

Could also be the accuracy of the cam gears.

I suppose either way it shows it is worth degreeing in the cams if you aren't going to tune the cam gears on a dyno.

Buschur thought it was a good idea to cut the head/ block so far that the pistons hit the head! I'm had to use a thicker Evo 9 hg to keep it from hitting so I would say my engine is off more than normal. I used adjustable cam gears but I didn't pay any attention to the marks. I degreed and set them. The "stock" marks weren't even close.
