also the cams for the evo 8 are 260/260 and these are 264/264

I would just have him drill out that hole a tad get it to fit on the cam and call it a day. Wouldn't worry to much about it.

easiest way to tell if its a intake MIVEC cam is the oil holes drilled in the face and in the first journal to feed the MIVEC cam gear.
I would be cautious about milling down the cam, they are heat treated and milling it will take that hardened layer off. just a heads up. Cant say exactly what it would do, ive never done it.
