I need a straight up answer about cams EVO 9

i know that on Evo 8 cams and evo 9 turbo will help alot, but I read alot of different opinions for evo 9 cams with stock turbo some say yes some say no. I have read the sticky "big cams small turbo" and "Everything I've learned after 4+ years with my Evo" threads but I can't a straight up answer.
current mods:
HPI FMIC
Turbo Master BOV
Drop-in Filter

Future mods:
DP & TP
1000cc Injector
255 Fuel pump
Fuel pump Re-wire kit
Cams?

with that mod list are cams worth it? or are stock cams good enough?

The right cams will give you more power, there's no use putting 280 cams on a stock turbo, but 260's and 270's will get you some more power. The larger cams are really only beneficial with the larger turbos.

I would upgrade your exhaust, fuel pump, injectors, LICP and a GM 3-port on e85, with stock cams. The money you spend on cams and installation, you could upgrade to a HTA71 instead and already have the supporting mods.

I'm honestly looking to get 400whp I got the tuner and thats all he does dsm & evo but I just wanna have everything ready before i take it to him you know so if stock cams are able to handle 400whp then ill stick with stock but if i need the extra ponies then i wont mind getting cams

GSC S1's seem like a wise choice for stock turbo

You need cams to make 400whp on stock 9 turbo, even with E85

I've seen stock cams, tuned on E85 with bolt on's produce over 400.

It's been done, personally I think that's a lot of strain on a stock up but that's just my .02

Big cams on a small stock turbo will produce gains. I ran GSC S2 cams on the small 03 evo 8 stock turbo and saw large gains.

Don't believe the hype of stock turbos can't handle big cams.

I would agree. I have had great results with FP4r cams with my stock 9 turbo. I also know of a DSM with 288s spinning the crap out of a 16g...

It's not that the larger cams won't produce power on stock turbos, they do. The problem with big cams is they shift your power band to the right. The stock turbo is already experiencing boost creep by 6-7k, it gets worse the higher up in the rpm band you go. The reason they work with larger turbos is because the larger turbos will continue to make power further up in the rpm band. So long story short the larger cams will produce more power with a stock turbo, but you are not using them to their full potential because the turbo isn't able to continue to make power at those higher rpms.

do the s2 cams. stock turbo with i/h/e i made power everywhere.
there was no lag, no drive-ability issues, no stalling issues, no ac issues nothing.
altho it took some tinkering to get it all to sort out but its great now. (tb seal problem)

BUT, since i have an 8, it lopes pretty hard and its annoying. so im looking to remove them. i know on the 9's with mivec u can tune out the cam loping.
