Help

I would look around for a used FP Green, ARP head studs, Cams maybe 272's, PTE 1200's, and an E85 tune. Do a modest tune using real safe parameters and enjoy whooping some Arsh! I got 463 at the wheels like this with a few other mods to help. I had a BR race intercooler and piping, ported everything so you might not make that high, but I bet you can get around high 3's maybe low 4's. These can be bought for 2200 and under if you look around for people selling. I have seen the Green's go for 1300 to 1500 used but great condition. All the other stuff has sold for really good prices. Good luck and don't race on a low tank.

It's not that hard to defeat the M6.
Last month I tuned an E9, 24psi 93oct. The 9's only mods were, a Tomei M7960 turbo, 1200cc injectors, & DW301 fuel pump. It easily defeated an E60 M5 (510hp) we raced the M5 3 times, every time the gap between the two cars would exceed 25yards, it was no contest :]

You would definitely need a larger turbo & larger injectors, & a good tune.
If you have a good clutch kit, you could have the tuner enable the 'no lift till shift' feature which is very good for drag racing.

If you have any cash left over you should upgrade your intercooler when I put on my 3.5in Ets intercooler it made a big difference.

Since you're making pretty much stock power, I assume you only have a hand full of mods and I therefore suggest not getting an fp black/ ef4. Don't do anything in a rush, some guy you know talking trash isn't worth blowing your motor.

Always funny to listen to bench racing... , you need to normalize the analisys. If he has 560 hp at the crank, lets use 15% reduction to the wheels, as thats what most use for the evo , so that gives him roughly 476 at the wheels vs 295. So now look at weight, 4500/476= 9.45hp/lbs for the bmw. So you need roughly 350hp, or basically 3200/350= 9.14 hp/lbs.
Thats all other things held constant-- and its a rough guess but a lot closer to reality-- no offense anyone. Now that brings things into perspective and your 2k will get you what you want. Be it cams, turbo, what ever your going to need at least 55 more wheel hp then you have today to even come close. Surely 2k will buy you that. GL.
meckert, I like your thinking.

In my opinion you probably want 75 to 100 more hp to win at the drag strip. I think 55 whp will be neck and neck.

Now how are you going to get 75-100 more whp? Ask RRE what direction you should go and please report back.

if m6 runs 12.4,then on stock 8 turbo and E85 you already can beat him.with good launch, and 60' you can run high 11's.

honestly 350whp in an evo should have no problem with an m6 the gearing in an evo makes a huge diffrence compared to the long gearing of a euro car. roughly same power to wieght but but with the short gearing in an evo which i think is like 4.56 to1 final to will easily pull him until the higher speeds
