What happened to my 4th gear?

I have a shep built 5 speed with only about 800 miles on it. I noticed that first time i went to the 1/4 mile track with it, it was tough to catch 4th gear. I missed it a couple times while street driving and that day at the track. Its almost as if it locks me out if i shift too fast. Lately i noticed it grinding when shifting fast into 4th. I adjusted my clutch pedal to see if that was it but still having the problem. I have an exedy triple disc in it with AMSoil fluids. Could it be that the synchro is already going out?
