Have had the car for 4 months and have babied the **** out of it. Shift at 3000-3500 rpm and VERY rarely do i wear the clutch with a bad shift, other than the first week of driving smh. Today, the clutch started slipping. Went half wot in 3rd/4th gear and noticed RPM climb, fall, then climb again. Decided to test so went WOT in 5th and clutch clearly slipped. This has to be a common problem with the X? because I'm almost 100% that it's not my driving...

 

See if your local Mitsu dealership will cover it under warranty. Never know unless you try. Could just be the 1 out of 5000 that had a defect of some kind from the manufacturer...it happens. Evo doesn't have the most durable clutch in the world, but a 2014 at 4 months old...should not happen.

 

You are having the exact symptoms I had, I JUST replaced mine. It is about a 12 hour labor job, $1400 quoted by mitsubishi in my area. I found a shop to do it for $700, plus resurfacing flywheel. I wished I had just upgraded the flywheel. Anyways, as soon as the clutch was installed, the master slave cylinder went out. There is a recall on the clutch master slave cylinder by mitsubishi. Get that done then take your car to a reputable shop and get a clutch of your choice (I got a competition stage 3 single disc, still haven't broken it in) and have them install it.
