Intake/TB Exhaust/BOV recommendations..??

Hey there, I have a question. I am in the process of buying an Evo 9 GSR. Its all stock except for 1100cc injectors. Not sure why that's the only mods, doesn't make a whole lot of sense but anyways, I plan on taking it straight to the shop to get the above said^ mods. That's the 1st stage anyways. Well I would love to hear on some good Int/TBE/BOV choices. I'm thinking Greddy Ti exhaust. Maybe Synapse BOV & no clue yet on Intake. I am open to all options, as long as there good quality. & I do plan on getting it tuned immediately after modding. So please any help is appreciated!!

Synapse DV, not BOV. unless you're SD tuned, you should be recirculating all excess air, not venting to atmosphere

Look into STM, ETS, or Buschur racing for intakes and exhaust systems. ETS has some sick exhausts in SS and Titanium and use Vibrant Mufflers, STM has an awesome Aluminum exhaust with a vibrant muffler as well(actually what I'm running), and Bushur Racing has a couple different muffler options for their exhausts. Intakes are pretty much the same across the board for performance with minimal HP difference. As for the BOV stick with your stock DV as it can hold a lot of pressure from the get go. Down the road if you decide to change your UICP you could always go with a Tial recirculated BOV. Good luck and happy modding!

I have the Greddy Ti and love it. It's pretty loud, I'm also catless. Sometimes it can be annoying ie on freeways.

You should also think about getting cams, LICP and O2 housing too

Heres a decent plan to follow. Some things are better done later though.

lol, i'm from southern oregon originally. get it tuned at english racing, in camas WA, and personally i'd skip the intake and BOV if you are getting a 9, and get a filter with maf adapter and save for an ETS cooler and piping.

pm me if you'd like some help, im frequently in the area.

Oh English Racing all the way!! Thanx for the help, I'll for sure look into the cooler & piping. & yea I might just do that & pm you. That'd be nice to get some tips. I had an Evo 8 b4, but it was built when I got it. So this time around I'd like to do my own thing. You might be hearing from me soon TeachersEvo!

When it comes to getting a good BOV, there really is no choice in our minds - TiAL all the way. It's the only BOV we have chosen to use on any of our builds. Basically, since its release, this is the most tried and true BOV on the market. Out of the hundreds of valves we've sold and thousands out there, we have actually only heard of one failure, and I'm fairly certain it didn't result in any sort of engine failure.

GReddy, HKS, and the others usually don't even perform as well as stock.

There are some very good companies there, though. The quality we've seen from Forge so far has been exceptional.

Not familiar with Synapse but if you want a pull type valve I'd go HKS. It appears that's the design they copied anyway. If you're dying for the BOV sound and want to run it to atmosphere HKS sells an electronic component that buffers the air meter signal so you don't have issues. The SSQV has 2 valves in one instead of the one larger valve so low pressure response is still good. You can also get a re-circulation fitting for it if you want to go that way.

I had the HKS Carbon Ti on my 9 and loved it but I can see how those would be maybe harder to get or pricier since they closed the main office in the US. If you wanted to stay Japanese tuner, Greddy or is a solid choice too. An electronic boost controller can help your turbo response too (vs. a manual bleed valve).

good luck!
