Help rattling after cam install
Help rattling after cam install
I just installed a set of super tech dual Valve springs and retainers along with some kelford 272s... Bleed lifters. Did the timming every perfect cars starts runs rough really rough and rich also I have some rattling noise that comes and goes only on idle I hear it otherwise I won't sounds like its coming from behind the head don't know what it can be anyone else has had this issue
Since you just did the work on the head, I think you should take the valve cover off and take a look in there. Especially if there is a rattling/ knocking sound, thats no bueno. Just to be sure all the retaining clips, springs and lifters are all still in the correct location and in working order. Then you can eliminate those, as the cause of your knocking sounds.
A video would definitely help with the diagnosis. Or a better description. Also you are sure it is not "lifter tick", as in the lifters not having pressure yet since you bled the lifters during reassembly?

The rattling is probably your PCV. Cams take away vacuum at idle which causes the check valve in your PCV to flutter (which is on the backside of your valve cover where the vacuum line goes in)
That's exactly where it sounds by it sounds some times not all the time it's really weird we took valve cover off to check the marks on cams and to check all the springs everything seems fine maybe it's the pcv ill check that out thanks
