Difficulting shifting into gears

For the past few months I've been having difficulty shifting into 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. When I attempt to shift in these gears it feels like there is a something blocking the entrance to the gear.

Also, after I make it into gear and still have the clutch fully depressed I will feel a little bump like something is trying to engage even though I haven't let the clutch out.

I will admit that I am jackass and haven't checked the fluid yet, but I only have 20k mile on the car so I don't think that's the problem.

Anyone have any ideas?

Ok it's about an inch below the max line, I will try that tomorrow. Will this have an effect without actually bleeding the clutch line?

How old is the clutch? It may need to be adjusted.

How old is the tranny fluid? Bleeding a clutch line is relatively cheap, so it wouldn't hurt to do that anyways.

Clutch is stock. Car has 20k miles on it.

I feel embarrassed to say this, but the tranny fluid is stock as well. Mitsubishi recommends every 30k for normal use, but maybe the time has been too long?

I have the redline cocktail ready to go, and plan on doing it Friday.

Could my clutch possibly be dragging?

Re-adjust your clutch-pedal.

I changed out my tranny fluid with MT-85, and this is what my drain plug looked like:

Should I be afraid?

The shifting feels smoother, but I'm still experiencing the blocking sensation when trying to go into some gears. It doesn't feel like lockout.

I didn't have time to adjust my clutch, so maybe the will fix it.

Plug metal looks normal for 1st time fluid change, now do both your T case and rear diff. search for fluid recommendations. As for clutch, top off reservoir above fill line, bleed, check level, then adjust pedal. Make sure your engagement for the pedal is about halfway from the floor. Your driving habits will determine the intervals for fluid changes and adjusting.

Good luck

Transmission drain plug looks about normal. Most certainly a good thing you changed it regardless of miles. You have a 7+ year old car and I like to change mine every 3 years at maximum.

For your transfer case and rear differential I would use OEM Diaqueen fluid from Mitsubishi.
