Clutch going..

Ok so I'm new to the evo world and this forum. I have an 05 evo 8 rs with basic mods. I believe my clutch is going or something in the front driveshaft. At about 4k under load the car will rev out like it is spinning the tires. I am not sure which clutch is in it. The guy just said a stage 4 six puck and that Jon Shepard built the transmission. What will a new clutch and install cost me. Give suggestions on which clutch to buy. The car makes 313 awhp and I don't plan to make over 400 anytime soon.

a stock clutch is good for the amount your pushing which is like 280 the twin disk from exedy should cost 1 k or more for the twin-disk if that's what your up for plus its noisy with that high pitch squeel. lab out will prolly be 500 plus the cost of fluids.

No reason for a twin at your power level.

Its prudent to replace the clutch if its slipping. At your power level you could use the OEM clutch assembly as a replacement.

What happens to the rpms past 4k? Do you lose rpms and power?

The rpms increase and the car doesnt go any faster. Do i need to replace the whole clutch assemby or get new disks. I dont want to put a stock clutch in it. Since eventually i do plan to build the car. The car did have bald tires for a bit when i didnt have much money. Could that have messed up my front driveshaft or axles. Thanks for your guys help.

Bald tires don't wreck axles. A stock disc, cover and throw-out bearing can be had for $350. Well, by the time sundries are included - close to $500.

You can always go into 4th gear at a lower RPM and floor it for a few seconds to see if it is slipping. I don't know how accurate that is, I was recommended to try that by a tuner

It doesn't matter which gear it's in. Once your floor it and the turbo spools it will rev out. I'm trying to find a shop in sc to do it but idk of any. I might have His Motorsports in nc do it since there the one who I had tune the car.

It's easier to spot in higher gears though.

Contact them and see what their recommendation is for a clutch. You should be fine with a single plate clutch such as a Competition Clutch Stage 2. They are pretty affordable and an option a lot of people are using now.

Stick to like a Clutchmasters, exedy, or ACT stage 1. I wouldnt recommend anything more than that unless its a weekend car. I had a exedy stage 2 for a daily driver and it was a nightmare.

I went with the completion clutch stage 3. His Motorsport will be installing it when the clutch arrives. I can't wait. Goodbye 6 puck
