Awkward boost cut problem? HELP appreciated

Hey guys,

No idea what this is. Relatively new to the Evo world, feel like a noob asking for help lol Help is much appreciated...

So Wed I installed the rest of the HKS RS intake on the car. (Previous owner only installed the MAF/Mushroom filter part for some reason? maybe that was relevant to the situation at hand...)

Install went good, everything was bolted up fine. Really tight fit, but bolted fine.

Got on it, car sounded beautiful. Drove fine as my daily all day yesterday as well as today.

THE PROBLEM:

Coming home from practice, rolling from the light, drove it normally like I always do out of 2nd up to ~4.5k went to shift, and the boost cut, but it didnt cut, it felt like the turbo bogged... or something. it got up to vacuum/boost (horizontal on the stock gauge) and it literally makes the car jolt... it feels terrible... it feels like the intake is clogged or something... like it cant get air.. I have no idea what it is...

Should I rip it all apart and see what the deal is??

Mods are just full HKS RS intake, catback BR exhaust, and a base flash from AMS...

It just feels like something is choking out the turbo as its trying to spool up. The car idles fine, drives fine as long as the boost needle doesnt move, which is extremely hard to do otherwise the car does that jolting/jerking.....

Waiting for the car to cool off and I'll poke around... any help would be MUCH MUCH appreciated...

Thanks fellow EvoM'ers

ridiculous...

Coming from a 350z these turbos are mind boggling!...

Tore apart the entire intake... checked all of the piping, plug wires, wastegate solenoid, hoses, clamps...... then the ICP... the LICP popped off...

Went around the block and the boost is back

Sorry for the urgency...

I would also do a boost leak check on all of your couplers. You never know, you may found a little hidden power in a few leaks.

Always carry a small tool kit with me for that reason. These turbo cars are a pita when they have hiccups, but they are a beautiful thing when they work right. Stupid little things like that happen all the time.

Went through today and re-tightened all of the intercooler/intake couplings thanks for the heads up! I think I'm just going to do solid uicp, make life easier haha.

For real though... - I was headed to pick up one and keep it in the trunk!
