HKS GTII turbo actuator replace?
HKS GTII turbo actuator replace?
Gentlemen,
I'm a little bit tired to screw back HKS turbo actuator. The controllabe rod gets lose once in a while and the flapper starts get lose as well - turbo stops blowing .6-.7 bar in "OFF" and does .4-.5.
Question: is there any way to replace the rod? Or can I use other actuator with this turbo? Is there any universal one say from Forged Performance (?) I can use?
Thanks!
Anton

the hks actuator is not your problem.
the problem exist with the turbine housing flapper..
the flapper arm and flapper bearing are not made with correct material. so they wear and get loose. this changes the starting (closed) position of the flapper arm.
requires tightening the actuator rod to compensate.
eventually the wear will progress to point where flapper will not seat flat. turbo will have terrible boost response with leak before turbine wheel.

I have KAI version of turbo. I had just re-build the engine head and checked the turbo flapper as was taking the turbo away. After 20K km flapper flat and clean. The rod itself is lose now (can shake easily with a hand). Last time I've tightened it everything was fine for quite a time. How can I make sure it's an arm or a flapper?
94AWDcoupe, that was indeed an actuator! See here:

Am I the only one it broke this way?
What to use to replace it?
