Mine whines consistently. It's loud to the point that you can hear it over my Buschur exhaust (which is also fairly loud at idle). No variation, and even with my lovely electrical anomalies. Check the voltage with a multimeter if you're really concerned.

There's no reason to change your fuel pump unless you're starved though...which pretty much means forced induction in the case of the Lancer.

 

my 255 isn't that loud. it could be the nissan design, but i only hear it whir to life right before my engine cranks, and then my exhaust covers the whine

 

I have an evo im just posting on a friends sn my mods are afc,aem intake,ground wires , open downpipe, 6 puck clutch fuel pump and soon 35 shot

i have an upgraded fuel pump in my car for turbo reasons and yes you can hear it. it is kinda annoying at times but i just turn the radio up.

 

Do us all a favor and register. It takes about 2 minutes, doesn't require much presonal info, and will allow us to understand what the hell you're talking about. Moving back to the Evo forums.

 

i have it on mines, and it's not noticable at all.
