Speed density on stock 9 turbo?

I've done some research and what I've come up with is speed density is only beneficial when going with a bigger turbo than stock because at that point MAF becomes a restriction..

Would like some insight on this as I am not too familiar with SD at this point

If speed density would be beneficial to me, I will definitely throw it on my setup so all opinions are appreciated!

Thanks

I have a much milder set-up and I am sold on SD. Absolutely love the car. Power up slightly, drivability once warm way better.

The big thing for me was part throttle drivability - that is really THE reason to do it. It makes the car much more enjoyable and easier to place and drive quickly on back roads.

This. The biggest advantage is partial throttle driveability. It's a noticeable difference, especially since I track my car. No more bucking under partial throttle.

According to some thners the stock maf is good to 700+... I switched sd because of part throttle bucking... When getting tuned by a GOOD tuner you dont even need the iat sensor... Which makes it 100 plus tune for a better driving car. Plus if youhappen to blow off you piping you can still drive to a decent place to fix your car rather then getting stuck in traffic or the highway... Both of which have happen to me. After sd i blew off a pipe and drove for 30 miles to the house with no issues so i could fix my car in peace.

In that case I think you should do a MAF tune. Some tuners aren't comfortable doing it yet or feel it's not a big enough gain to switch. Like Aaron at ER said on a stock turbo it's 10 HP at best.

What kind of racing do you do?

Just get the SD, you are modifying your car anyways, i'm sure down the road you'll have a bigger turbo.

8-10whp is average. But if you are looking for that last 8-10whp its worth doing of course. As was said earlier though, if your tuner isnt comfortable doing it then its decision time. Either get a new tuner which is extreme or heed his advice and then just tune the car on a MAF.
