What point do I need a dry sump oil system for my evo 9?

Just saw this in the MAP email newsletter

http://www.maperformance.com/evo-dry...rformance.html

Looks sexy as always got to love map quality

just curious as to what level of performance would something like this be required? Anyone running a dry sump system and have any input on this? Thank you

If you have dedicated race car that pulls crazy G's on the road coarse and you want to be sure you have a good supply of oil. Or if you need more clearance under your car because your affraid of ripping off the oil pan. Probably overkill for a street car but in my opinion way cooler than chrome wheels or that stretched tire crap I keep seeing

Track car on slicks is the only reason I can see for needing a dry sump system.

10,000+ RPM drag car?

Deticated road race car though seems to be a great reason. For the street, that exposed drive belt would be a massive concern.

Anything that is going to be over 9000, is already really vibey, see high G forces (not just in corners), or you want to add reliability and power. Albeit it comes with a hefty price tag, a dry sump system like the Magnus or the Norris is a nice piece of kit.

12 quarts of oil capacity, increased oil cooling potential, and vacuum in the crank case is win/win in my book.

Nice there is some good info on this thread thank you everyone. I think this would make a pretty good setup for a high powered street/show car. I really like the additional oil capacity. Thats pretty sick

Thanks for sharing! Map ftw

I haven't had my hands on the dry sump as of yet, but I have seen the one on their drag car in person. The quality is just what it looks like: Amazing. That is a picture on a random short block (notice the pan isn't bolted on). Pretty sure that is my actual kit though, because they come with -8 oil return lines and mine had a -10 added to match the oil return from the EFR.

I am waiting on a few things to get the car back together, and then it is going up to MAP for the dry sump install and a few other custom fabrication things. I will be posting a full build thread as things get under way. Let's just say this build is on the level of the AMS Blue Demon (Although APR not voltex obviously). A lot of set up changes from the original build. Can probably find info on their original build on EvoM if you are crafty ^_^. Here was the chassis right before the original build was completed by VS motorsports.

And yeah, the black car left with its new owner yesterday evening. Sad to see it go, but such is life.
