Going this route because it's cheaper and i found a good deal on the engine w/ only 37k miles. I've searched a couple threads and couldn't find an exact list of what is needed. Is it just the engine, ecu, and wrote harness or is there anything else. Saw that some people have made due wth only those three things.

myself and 2 others did this on a friends car. You need the engine, ecu, and wire harness for the 9. the most time consuming thing was pulling the 8 harness and installing the 9 one.

 

I put my 8 engine into my ix, all I needed was a nine ECU and I used my nine harness just spliced it to make it work..

 

Interesting. How did you guys like the VIII over the IX?

 

I thought that would be all but I've read other places that you need a different relay and some other things to cancel out the acd from the IX. I already have my 8 harness pulled out so hopefully I can remember where it all goes

 

^ lol I just used my ix harness and spliced everything I didn't need out, removed acd,power steering,air conditioning and abs. Just a lot of splicing and rewiring but it works fine with the 8 motor and 9 ECU.

 

I made an adapter harness one time that would let you plug the 9 ecu into the 8 harness and just ran the 5 wires for the cam sensor and mivec solenoid to the ecu.

So are you saying that the 9 motor into the 8 chassis is the same thing? Because i think you have it backwards for my situation
