Corrosion proof spray for bare shortblock?

I'm about to rip my cylinder head off during this cold weather and worried about getting rust in the shortblock once I take it off. Is there a spray or something I can do to ensure no rust or corrosion gets to the bare pistons? Shortblock will remain in the car outside, possibly in a garage if I go that route. Thanks.

Looking around in my shop I see I have a rattle can of Conklin Rust Aside but I'm sure any parts store should have something similar.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll look for them tomorrow. Wasn't too keen on just wd40, but if I'm unable to find anything else that'll have to do. I appreciate it

coat it in a light coat of engine oil, then cover up your shortblock in a oil soaked bag and you should be good. Just check up on it every so often and recoat as needed. That should keep corrosion away.

Thanks, searched for other corrosion proof sprays locally but no luck, the oil soaked bag and coated it in oil seems to be the best idea. Now to go out and play, thanks again!!!!

Wheel bearing grease a good thickish coat in the cylinders and on the HG surface. you will not need to re apply and will also hold any any air born grit that makes it in there.

I know for corrosion itself, get Corrosion X, you can pick it up locally at a Grainger if you have one near you. I'm sure if you wipe on a thin layer it won't be bad for the motor at all. It's the best out there.
