I was wondering who this was as well. I used to run an ACT extreme pressure plate single, heavier spring than your clutch On my stock block and ran it for a year holding the pedal to the floor every time I started it with no issues. It sounds to me like they are unsure and not confident of their work. I build my own motors and have been on push and pull style clutches and my thrust bearings showed some signs of wear from the quartermaster, but nothing out of ordinary. like has been said crank walk is no longer an issue these are evo blocks not dsm's.

Sounds like they aren't sure of their work. Get your car out of there asap!

To answer the OP question. Follow the clutch pedal to a switch that is engaged while pressed. Then follow the wiring to a white connector, disconnect it and boom, no clutch start needed. I did this to my evo and my DSM has had this mod done even with built 6 bolt motor.

Honestly, my clutch switch is disabled also. I don't push in my clutch when starting my car either.

What about all the times you depress the clutch when you shift during driving anyhow? You still have to depress the clutch anyways, am I missing something?

I was wondering about this too but apparently why they bypassed the clutch was because at start up, the thrust bearing isnt oiled properly but later as the engine cycles, its throughly oiled.

At least thats what they just told me.

Are you talking about the Throw out bearing (part of the clutch) or Thrust Bearings (Internal to the engine). Make them explain to you in detail what's going on until you fully understand. If they are not willing to do so, then run!!!

You always have to start the car with the clutch/tranny disengaged from the engine, or the car will jump on you. Pushing the clutch pedal in is a safety thing in case you forget to put the car in nuetral, but it's not necessary if you have it disabled and always remember to put the car in nuetral to start.

My advice, start learning as much as you can about the mechanical and electrical aspects for all cars, otherwise, you will always be an easy target.

All this comes to us from the second generation DSM engines. In this engine they made the bearings smaller, the oil galleries smaller and changed the design of the oil squirters. The result was a rash of crank walked engines. Cars with automatic transmissions were crank walking. This was a very common problem and the maker never acknowledged it. Shops didn't know what to do to fix the problem. New internals just meant it crank walked again.

Decades ago Pennzoil made a batch of bad engine oil and had to replace some engines. The other day, on another forum, there was someone asking if Pennzoil would ruin their engine. These stories never go away.
