Is there a pc680 sized battery that doesn't suck in winter?

Put an optima 34 red top in the trunk. No starting worries, ever.

Im really surprised that even with a tender some are still not achieving enough CA for a cold start. how old are your batteries? how many miles a trip do some of you drive?
In some cases, its probably due to an unrealized current draw on the battery. My car alarm will pull down the reserve on my PC925 in about two weeks.

Sorry to bump an old thread. But I was hoping to get some recommendations on a lightweight battery that would last in the trunk.

Ive ran an odyssey battery under the hood and it died during a harsh winter. At which point I switched to an Optima Red Top, and later relocated it to the trunk.

And again I am thinking of ways to shave some weight so Im wondering what batteries out there would provide enough jump from the trunk, and enough cold cranking amps to get me through the winter.

I saw this battery http://shoraipower.com/lfx36l3-bs12-p130 earlier in the thread which sounds awesome. But I didnt know how it was setup, under the hood, or in the trunk.

Thoughts? Options?

I know I posted a picture of my setup in the past just not sure where it is at this point. But I have mine right in the engine bay and just trimmed the stock tray. My car is daily driven through the winter and its served me well the past couple years. I did have surgery a few month back and my car sat for 2 weeks and was unable to start after that which I found strange. However I jumped it and its been fine since then so IDK if there was a slow drain on it but as long as youre driving the car every couple days I'm sure you'll be fine.

Just throwing this out there for those that may not need the CCA and want a cheap, good battery.
This one is the same as what ETS sells, it just doesn't come with the terminals.
$45

I got the ETS mini batt kit in the spring of 2010 and just had to replace the battery this January. Its worked in AL winters, granted I only used it down to around 15°F.

EDIT: I don't understand why that first link is going to ebay. Go to www.atbatt.com and search CSB HRL1280W 12V 80W High Rate Long Life Battery

My Odyssey was fine this year in a PA winter. People just don't drive their cars enough.

Still 10x better than a mini battery. Car sat for a month and still fired up with this thing. And it makes a lot of room in the engine compartment.

I have an EFI battery Tray and had a Interstate 51 batter (500CA) It worked ok on the stock ecu but wasn't too happy while cranking with the AEM. It was even worse below 50*. I switched to a PC1100 and it cranks like a champ now. I had to modify the tray a bit and some terminals.

27lbs
500cca 1100cca burst

Not a bad idea. I just looked into their other products.

Anyone have thoughts on this one?

Only 26lbs, and 450CCA. But I am likely overlooking some spec that would make or break this as an option.

The CSB HRL1280W from atbatt.com is $45, 480CCA, 15 lbs. Mine lasted 5 years and was never on a tender or charger.
