Mileage VS Piston Ring Wear
Mileage VS Piston Ring Wear
Does anyone have any information on piston wear vs mileage on lancer evo 9? No matter how much we take care of the engine, even if we change oil every 3000 miles and baby the car, piston wear is inevitable. I am sure someone would say it depends how you drive, how often you change your oil, etc etc. However, there must be somewhat general knowledge about piston wear...example..at 70k miles
you're at 94% of the original ring at 80k miles you're at 90%. Is there such data? Thank you...

I work on another forum trying to help people with older and high mileage cars. There's many people posting there with mileage in the range of 200 to 300 thousand miles. It is rare to encounter a vehicle with mileage in excess of that - maybe the occasional truck.
So, yeah, and engine in a car that is driven by an easy going driver can last a long time. An Evo, on the other hand, for many people, is a toy. Nothing wrong with that but wear will be excessive.
