Evo 8 feels weak past 4 rpm

Sup guys. I've had my evo ever since it came out in '03. Now for some reason when the rpm it 4k and up, it feels weak and the Engine sound like it has a leak. My friend say it might be the clutch but accelerating from 1st and 2nd, the car pulls. The car has 89k and still on the original clutch. Pretty much the car still have the original parts, even the stock brake pads. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

sounds like your clutch may be slipping, weird that you have had your evo since 03 and this is your first post on the forum and your join date is may 2014....

wow 89k on original clutch. yeah, might be the clutch. try 3rd pull and 4th pull if the rpms shoot up and speed barely goes then it is the clutch.

Naw. I've a member since this site started but have been trolling for the past few. I forgot my password so I started another one. My original name is Warpspeed without the "21" Anyways.....ya...the car is pretty much not crazy modded. It's just now for some reason the car feels weird. It doesn't feel strong past 4k and the rpm doesn't go up like it would if it was slipping. My boost gauge reads 19psi to 22 psi. I ordered new hoses with t-bolts and most likely I am due for a new clutch even though I know it's not slipping that bad. Since I going to have my clutch changed soon, I might as well send the tranny to Sheptrans shop and rebuild it since it is starting to have those "marbles in a bag" sound. How about the turbo? Do you think it's the wastegate or actuator?

thanks

Just put in brand new plugs. Same ones that came with the car. Still the same. I'm boosting pass 21psi but when the rpm gets to @4k, the motor sounds like is falling apart. Check the wastegate actuator. Everything normal. If I can't figure this out, I might take it to Works have them take a shot at it. No boost leak that I'm aware of. In fact, the hose for the throttle body popped of twice and that's after cranking down the clamp with a rachet. Funny, the car has been running great for several years and all of a sudden I can "feel" something is not right. I know the 8 's idle funny but this time there is like a "whirling" sound. Hope it's not my clutch and flywheel.

Any ideas left?

Thanks in advance
